Well, I'm reading the book called The Pelican Brief. It's not the first time that I do it, but as I need to know the details at the back of my hand, I'm doing it again. The book is very good thriller type. There's action either. The story says about some killings which are connected with a brief that reveals who is ordering it. Another good thing to say is that the book brings up with discussions about the environment and the edge that we can explore it. You get excited by the book and be yourself a pageturner. The range of vocabulary is good and you don't get in trouble. After reading it, you can hire the film and contrast both versions. It worth giving it a try!!!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely recommend reading the ‘Pelican Brief’. It’s a page-turner, you can’t put it down until you can finally face the whole truth. This book is definitely the one with the most action in it. It’s a kind of thriller and mystery book. The summary is basically this: “two Supreme Court Justices, Rosenberg and Jensen, are murdered. Darby Shaw starts an investigation in different libraries for some days and opens a file about her theory why Rosenberg and Jensen could have been killed. She thinks that Victor Mattiece is responsible for the two deaths because Rosenberg and Jensen prevent him of gaining the oil in South Louisiana and in fact, her theory is completely true.” To sum up, the author of this book, John Grisham, knows how to depict real events but in one different story. This book is very readable.

I as reading an excellent book called "the pelican brief". It's definitelly a page turner. The story is so fantastic, that that came into a movie few years later.
ReplyDeleteThe book talks about the assassination of two judjes of the supreme court, and how a student of law Darby Shaw did to solve the deaths.
It mixes mystery, romance and principally thriller and it’s also small, so, it can be read at fast business trip, at the bus, because it’s a fast reading one. I wolud also recomend it as a good option for a birthday gift.

I ready Let's Do it Together. It's a very good book. The book shows us the history of Costa Family enjoying more time on family, which is very difficult nowadays. The most interesting are the lessons about the nature preserve. I recommend to all. Tiago F. Campos

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, there are very good books, because tells about very interesting themes, like the prejudice and the necessity of taking care of the environment.
Also, these books had teached me new ways to put sentences in the past.

I read a fantastic book called “Romeo and Juliet”!

The story set is in Verona, Italia. The story is about a girl who falls in love with a boy, called Romeo. Her name is Juliet. However they are of family rivals, and the dating becomes prohibited.
After many things happened, Romeo decide to got married with Juliet, however it’s
Happened hidden... If you like to known the end of the history, you rent this book!
The book is very nice but is so moving, I like very much, and a highly recommend this book for peoples who likes to cry a little bit!
I reckon the book is the second book I’ve ever read!
I’ll never forget the attitude of Juliet when she saw Romeo died!

ReplyDeleteWell, I read an excellent book called "Dawson's Creek".This book is very cool.It's criated by Kevin Williamson.The show was set in the fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts and in Boston, Massachusetts during the later seasons.The story tell about a group of four friends and they are fifteen years old.Two of them are friends since they were children but the girl fell in love for the her best friend however he just wants her friendship. Then they decided not to have any commitment serialize because they are very new.Finally, this book tell the main things practically that happen in an adolescent's life, this normal "indecision".I recommend this book for people who like romantics stories and stories that are basically the facts of the life.

The book that I read was "Room 13". I found this book a little tiring, but interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe book is going according to the mystery of a room that brings the number of chance, in that case is 13, a mysterious whistle that you hear of anything, a maze with strange creatures, a note of death that comes from nothing and the disappearance the crows of Anglia. The mysteries of this book are interesting, but if you want to discover what those hidden stories, read "Room 13".
This book is easy to understand the story, but this year was the first book I li.Mas most books have a language more complex, more difficult to understand.
I'm not sure, but I think this book should be scary for small children.
Well, I've just finished the read of "The Phantom of the Opera".In my point of view,this book improve a bit of my vocabulary and show me that I can understand all story without a lot of doubts.I really like the chapters 10 and 12,when I discovered the most important informantions that I'm looking for during the story. In addition,chapter 10 is a kind of summarise the story and chapter 12 said which type of person was Erik! How interesting!To sum up,I'm definetely like the book and the story about the 'ghost' and I'd reccommend this book!

Hi! Well I've been reading an interesting book called 'The death of Karen Silkwood'. In fact, it's really awesome. The story talks about a girl who started working in a factory, afther that she finds many mistakes and starts a investigation as well. In the end, her body's found in her car. She was dead.

Hi everyone, well, I have just readen "Henry VIII and his six wives", and i absolutely loved it, in fact it talks about Henry the king of england and why did he have six wives, was he a womanizer? Maybe, but all he wanted is a son, and why was he so worried about it?, read and you will know ;D

Well, I've read the book 'Sense and sensibility'.The history is about two sisters with different opinion about love, one with good sense and the other with romantic sensibility.I recomend this book for all kind of people need to learn how live with another people with different opinion.So, it's all :D

ReplyDeleteBased on a true story, “Marley and Me” shows the life of journalist (John Grogan) who, with his wife, decides to adopt a dog called Marley. But the problem is that Marley is the “world’s worst dog”. He’s friendly and lovable, but devorous everything.
The book is quite moving. The way that the author presents the connection between a person and a dog will definitely leave you cry and become impressed.
So, if you want to read something that you’ll enjoy and which has something important to say, then “Marley and Me” is one to choose. Specially for those who enjoy a great comedy and emotional story. You couldn’t put it down. It’s a real page-turner.

Well, I read a book called “Five Children and It” !!!

The history start in a new house,of the childs. The book is about 5 brothers who find a creature in the garden.
After that, the brothers begin to live lot of adventures. They know different places, make wings, and live an exciting story.
The history is great and amuzing, I recommend this book !

Well. I've read "Five children and it" this book it's about five children and find one gravel-pit. and he carries out their wishes.It's cool, but I'm prefer other tipes of books. I think it's a little child, but it is very good to read and easy to understand.

Hi everyone! Well, I read an interesting book called “Dracula”! The book was written by Bran Stoker. The story happened at London, and if you like blood, vampires and stories of suspense, read Dracula, you’ll like it. I recommend it, the story is a little confuse, but really cool. For me was interesting to learn more and improve my skills with English. So, that is it!

Hello everyone. I've read a book called "Ear-rings from Frankfurt". Well I didn't really liked the history which talks about Jennifer and her brother's job who works for Kelly. In his job Richard(Jennifer borther) think that his boss is working with stolen jewelery, like ear-rings, rings... The history is very confusing, it's not very easy to understand it, but the vocabulary is not really complex.

The history basicaly talks about Jeniffer and her brother Richard. Richard's boss is bad, very bad. He stolen jewelery, like ear-rings, necklaces. If you want to read, find at the Multimedia Center, at Cultura Inglesa, SJDR.

ReplyDeleteI read "Let's Do It Togheter". The book helped very, because cause of the words in the past. I improved in the pronunciation, but still I am with difficulties. With the reading we will be able to improve each time more. The best form to pronounce correct is listening to.

ReplyDeleteI read "The Nigth of the Green Dragon".
This book talk about onde man, he wakes up in a hospital when two people question him about a dead body and he remember a green dragon and a pool of blood. So he decide to escapes from a hospital and then he remember for the things was happening of the last few days. In finish the book he meet the green dragon and gave to the inspector.
I recomend this book because is very interesting and exciting.

ReplyDeleteI read "Agatha Christie - Women of mistery",a really interesting book which talks about Agatha's life.She was a very famous writer who lived in British,and her life was so confused.Her books are always a mistery in the end,because the reader think a thing but she changes a lot.I recommend this book for a person who like a biography,but if you prefer more action in the storie,don't read this book.

In the factory she discoveres many violetions like: Esposure of workers to contamination there. After some months she was contaminated and her body was found in her car which had run off the road.She was dead.

I read a book called A Matter of Prejudice.The book is very good.The books talks about a family that have a blind son and he faces severals problems first the difficulty of having a school after he faces the rejection of some friends and not be with then because Siar is blind until he wins and if the life form in school

ReplyDeleteThe reading of books, magazines are a great challenge and provide growth in language learning. I see the importance of reading especially for the purchase of extra vocabulary. Even that seems difficult is worth reading the book recommended, as the books: Let's do it together and Matter of Prejudice and other books also, if possible.

As they were killed by the best killer in the world (Khamel) the three bullets were each very clean, very professional and there were no clues. Darby Shaw a law student decided to begin an investigation by her own. She found her answer and composes a brief explaining the identity of the man who hired the assassination. When I started to read the book I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down. The book is very interesting and I recommend it for everybody because it has a nice, easy style.

ReplyDeleteI've read "The Phantom of the Opera", written by Gaston Leroux, a french writer, and I liked it a lot.
It's an evolvent and exciting story about a phantom who lives in a opera house and fall in love with a singer there, Christine Daae.
I recommend to you that, like a Sherlock Holmes (a detective), to follow the ghost steps, entering the door of this great and romantic adventure to deep inside the words world and to discover what happen with our romantic characters.

Hey man I´m here to talk about The Phantom of the Opera who is one of the most classic stories ever made! In my concern, it´s an amazing book, You know I´ve read it only once but it is soo good that I am thinking of read another time. I thought this book helped me a lot, because it gave me the oportunity to make a good composition at FCE´s composition ! So that´s all I´ve got here ! LOL

Hi everybody! I recently read a very good book and I'd like to share my finds with you all.
ReplyDeleteThe Pelican Brief is a book by best seller thriller author John Grisham which later became a vary famous movie starred by Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington. It tells the story of a law student name Darby Shaw who suspects that two Justices murders aren't just a coincidence but part of a conspiracy motivated by greed.
The Pelican Brief is a great thriller with a well constructed story that falls right into place as the book is closing to an end. It has many well conducted breath-taking action scenes which make the reader clutching at the pages as the life threatening situations go on jumping over poor Darby Shaw and Gray Grantham. It's like they never gonna make it alive. There are so many obstacles it makes one wonder of they will ever uncover the truth.
It's a wonderful book for those who like thriller and police action stories. You won't put it away till the final dot. For those who also like good movies, it's recommended to watch The Pelican Brief, directed by Alan Pakula.
Anyway, book or movie, it's an excellent choice of title. Don't miss any of them.

ReplyDeleteAs we are here to share our reading experience, I´ve decided to talk not about " The Pelican Brief" ( because I´m not fond of this kind of literature...detective story).So I`m Re-reading the book in which I´ve done a project at University " Moments of Being". This book is a collection of three different autobiographical works written by Virginia Woolf. THose works were written in specific times of her life. Only by reading through them can you understand and know twice more about this brilliant feminist writer. It´s worth, not only for those who are big fans of her literatue, but also for whom loves a magnificent piece of art.
Spending your time reading...it´s a good way to relax, be understandable and understand the others...

I've just read Girl With a Pearl Earring, by Tracy Chevalier. It talks about the (fictional, obviously) relation between the family of the famous Dutch painter Vermeer and the new maid of the house, a young girl called Griet.
ReplyDeleteI really disliked the book, which I found boring - it seems that the daily routine of the characters never changes. Anyway, it is descriptive/reallistic, something that I find difficult to see in a book. If you want to enrich your vocabulary, it's a perfect choice.
